Arrive. Fly or be in the Catania by this evening. We provide recommendations for hotels and bed and breakfasts. Explore the city this evening on your own or meet with us for a casual meet + greet for drinks and snacks on Radici Siciliane. Get a good night’s rest because the adventure begins in the morning.

Mt. Etna. Our van will pick you up wherever you stayed in Catania on the 18th bright and early in the morning with breakfast to go for you. We will embark on a guided jeep tour up the sacred Mother Volcano, Etna to pay our respects and enjoy her magic. We’ll learn about the history, mythology and geography of this volcano and explore her terrain, make offerings to her, notice what flowers and plants grow there, have a picnic lunch, possibly run into a mushroom forager and maybe visit a volcano beekeeper to taste and gather some honey. Finally, we head to our village accommodations to enjoy a feast dinner together and rest. . All meals included this day.

Rest, pane and pizza. We rest in the morning after our long volcano journey, you can wander the village of Petralia Sottana, meet the locals, and in the afternoon we’ll circle together and do ancestral integration and intention work. In the evening we’ll visit a community pane and pizza maker, learn to make dough from her, and feast at her family's country home together on twinkle lights and surrounded by grape vines.. Breakfast and dinner included.

Cheese + Cannoli. Today we visit a multigenerational shepard and learn to make traditional cheese with him at his off-grid farm. Well enjoy a lunch feast at his farm and then afterwards head to the local multigenerational cannoli makers country house to learn to make cannoli from the cheese we just made. All meals included.

Madonna dell’Alto. By foot or buy a private bus (your choice) we venture up to the highest sanctuary for La Madonna in all of Europe: The Madonna dell’Alto. If you walk, you will be guided by local naturalists who will share stories of plants and trees and early rituals. Once we arrive at the top we’ll be greeted and fed by the caretakers of the sanctuary and partake in a private ceremony in the temple. In the evening we read and rest and enjoy the village. Breakfast and lunch provided.

The sea. Today we go to the sea and soak in the salt, take in the sun, drink cocktails and eat seafood. In the evening we have dinner at a beautiful Manna farm. Breakfast and dinner provided.

Palermo + Tarantella. We venture to Palermo for a private street food tour with Linda Saris of Cheeky Chef, and then we’ll attend a special workshop around ancient dance and music of the tarantella. This workshop involves movement, singing and instruments. It’s a deep and healing tradition. After this, we have free time in Palermo for dinner. Breakfast and lunch included.

Rest + integrate. Today we rest, fully and entirely. There are no plans, but there will be a bus for an optional extra beach day. In the evening we’ll sit around the conca, an ancestral outdoor fire, and listen to a local storyteller, learn about il malocchio (the evil eye), and be surrounded with live folk music, dance and joy. Breakfast and dinner included.

Basket weaving. We spend the morning and afternoon learning about traditional basket weaving (panera) from an elder. His entire family will be there to share traditional Sicilian folk ways. We’ll dance, eat, weave, and bring in so much wisdom. In the evening we travel to another village to experience their processions to Madonna del Miracolo. ALL MEALS INCLUDED.

Temples + ruins. Travel to Agrigento Valley of the Temples and explore this breathtaking site of ancient ruins and clear waters. Breakfast and lunch provided.

Catania. We pack up and head back to Catania by noon — please make all your reservation for flying out AFTER 3pm. If you make them earlier you will have to be responsible for hiring your own car back to Catania. On this day you need to make your own accommodations for Catania if you plan to sleep over again and catch a flight out the next day.

Travel requirements: Please schedule your arrival into Catania Fontanarossa Airport where you will find transport either by taxi or public transport so you arrive at hotel by evening of the 18th - We will be picking you up via shuttle on the morning of the 19th. If you plan on arriving earlier than the 18th, please let us know so we can support you. Please schedule your departure from Catania anytime AFTER 3pm on the 28th (or choose to stay as long after as you want!)
